Announcements & Polls

What are announcements?

Announcements are project-wide or department-targeted messages that super admins and department admins can send to crew. Each announcement triggers a push notification to every targeted crew member who has the Studio Color mobile app installed with notifications enabled.

Announcements are useful for time-sensitive communication — location changes, meal breaks, weather delays, schedule shifts, or any message that needs to reach the crew immediately without requiring them to open the app.

Sending an announcement

Click New Announcement on the Announcements page. The compose form has three parts:

Title and message

• Title — Up to 100 characters. This appears as the push notification headline on crew devices.
• Message — Up to 500 characters. The body of the announcement.

Department targeting

Super admins can send to All Teams or select one or more specific departments. Department admins can only send to their own department — the targeting selector is locked to their department automatically.

• All Teams — Every crew member on the project receives the push notification.
• Specific departments — Only crew members in the selected departments are notified. Select as many departments as needed.

Adding a poll

Click Add Poll in the compose form to attach a poll to the announcement. Polls let crew vote on options alongside the message — useful for meal preferences, availability checks, or any crew decision that needs a quick tally.

• Add between 2 and 6 options. Each option is up to 100 characters.
• Click Add option to add more choices, or the minus button to remove one.
• At least 2 options are required to send an announcement with a poll.

Voting on polls

When an announcement includes a poll, crew members see the options directly on the announcement card. Tap or click an option to cast your vote. You can change your vote at any time by tapping a different option.

• Your current vote is highlighted with a purple border and checkmark.
• Tapping another option immediately switches your vote.

Viewing poll results

Admins and super admins can view full poll results including vote counts, percentages, and which crew members voted for each option. Click View results below the poll options to expand the results panel.

• Each option shows a percentage bar, vote count, and the names of voters.
• The leading option is marked with a trophy icon.
• Regular crew members (editors and viewers) can vote but cannot see individual voter names or full results.

Push notifications

When an announcement is sent, Studio Color delivers a push notification to every targeted crew member who has:

• The Studio Color mobile app installed on their device.
• Push notifications enabled — this can be managed from More › Settings in the mobile app.

Crew members who have notifications disabled or no mobile app will still see announcements when they open the app or web app — they just won’t receive the real-time push alert.
